All motor vehicles, trailers and motorcycles being officially imported to Russian Federation are subject to confirmation of compliance to safety requirments in form of mandatory certification. The document confirming the compliance and permitting the import or putting into circulation, is the Vehicle Type Approval (VTA), which may be issued on a limited number of units, either one or three years without limitation of the quantity.
Despite tha fact that most of the requirements of the Russian vehicles' certification system coincides with the European legislation in the field of technical regulation, the direct implementation of an European Whole Vehicle Type Approvals (EC WVTA) is not possible.
Neither Certificate of Compliance (CoC paper) will do. This is due to the fact that the EU directives are not recognized by Russian certification system directly and, in addition, Russia has some unique requirements to motor vehicles.
To ensure the legal activity of the vehicles' importer dealing with tens, hundreds and thousands of cars it is neccessary to have certification support of it's goods.
